National Capital Kart Club members are competing in the second annual Capital Cup at Le Circuit Quyon on June 30th and July 1st.

This year’s event also marks the grand opening of the new and expanded Le Circuit Quyon. Track owners Paul & Cathy Lalonde have more than doubled the size of the track, combining new long wide open corners with the hilly and twisty short circuit to bring racers new and unique challenges with fun for Rotax and 4 stroke machines alike.

Capital Cup trophies will be presented to the overall point leaders in all seven classes over both races, so Kart Racers from all of Quebec and Ontario will have their chance to bring home the “Gold”!

The Capital Cup, which consists of Races 5 and 6 of the NCKC championship, will have local Racers in pursuit of the DAWG FM Championship Race Series title.

Anyone interested in participating can race in the Le Circuit Quyon concession kart race for those budding racers that are interested in being part of the action!

Practice, qualifying, and the race will be held during the NCKC lunchtime intermission on race day. Cost is $50.00 per entry, with a minimum of five (5) racers required for the race to proceed. For additional information and to register for the concession kart race, please contact Paul directly at paul@lecircuitquyon.com before Saturday at 8pm!

The NCKC and all local karters have been extended an Invitation to participate in Wed night races at Capital City Speedway and Le Circuit Quyon. This will be a great chance to get exposure for the NCKC in front of racing enthusiasts and have new racers get started in a relaxed environment.

The events at Capital City Speedway will be:

Hi Mike

The race this Wed is on…..I’ll post tomorrow what time we can go through the gate…. and if I get some laps in, what gearing I ran…

Paul Lalonde and some of his crew should be about 5 racers….. you, myself & my friend (Lindsay SQ Kendal)… a few Lombardy area racers have expressed interest… so it looks like 10 or so karts…. I haven’t heard much from active NCKCers in the Sr classes but hopefully a few will attend to have some fun and promote the club….
Jason Bolton will come to answer questions for those interested in joining NCKC…. hopefully someone will bring or drop off to me at my store, club brochures if there are any…

Cheers
Frank

Wed May 30th 2012It was a fantastic day/night for racing …Sunny and 20deg! Todd and his crew ran a great event from the affordable ($30.00) quick sign in…….. right into practise sessions, and then with two six lap inverted heats and a ten lap final. The track was very fast and it was amazing to be moving/drifting through such a long fast turn as 3/4.Then full throttle into the front S bend, then turns 1/2 exiting low into the back straightaway chicane. All in all it kept you busy the whole lap. In the final I could feel Mike Byron on my bumper on the last lap but he didn’t get by. (he told me later he thought he could) … rematch next Wed June 6th…
Note to Mike Coughlin, the new ashphalt and turns really moved the high speed exit lines down on the apron away from the walls, hope to see you at the next race.Gearing for Mike B and I was 17 x 58 and we could have probably been 17 x 60, I’ll try to find out what gearing for Briggs next race..
It was good to see the Lombardy contingent, one with a brand new kart, another with a Briggs and some box stocks as we’ll…Thanks to Jason Bolton for bringing his machines and trailer promoting the club at the front gate, and the Felt Q520 Mountain bike from Dinardo’s Skis & Wheels was also on display..I was amazed to see a ton of familiar faces, former NCKC kart racers and thier families at the track, though most without thier karts and many racing in the legends class… nice to talk with Ron Henrie and hear he will give a serious effort to race out of town and give Collison a run for the chequered….More soon!

Next Race Wednesday June 6th

Cheers
Frank

It was fun to see you guys race out there and it brought back good memories. If I can get off work early enough this Wednesday and if I have time to get my #3 or 4 engine going, I just might show up with my trailer. I’m not making any promisses here. I’m leaving next day for my F1 weekend getaway and I have lots to do before I leave.

Hi Ron

It was another fun filled night of racing…. Sylvain was in attendence dicing back and forth with Mike Byron for the win in the final.. We got our final in with a few drops of rain testing the nerves at high speed on slicks….This race Lindsay and I ran 16 x 60 for 6300 rpm….Next Race June 27th so kids will be at the end of school, and therefore Jason and hopefully a few more racers will be able to attend.

Hope to see you at the next race…

Cheers
Frank

Hi Folks,
I was in the stands on Wed night and just wanted to let you know that juding by the banter I heard, the folks in the crowd love the kart racing. I was in different places in the stands for 1st heat and the final and somehow ( ) found myself over in the beer garden for the 2nd heat and can tell you there was a lot of interest everywhere about the karts.Frank,
It would be good to get motor-mouth to explain how the karts are configured and some additional info about where NCKC normally races and/or make a reference to the NCKC website, but otherwise he does a great job of ratcheting up the excitement. Congratulations Sylvain for the win, and great job to all the Kart racers.Gord.

This is just a thought, but if someone could get Chris Healy to attend the next session and arrange for him to grab the microphone during the kart races, he could answer some of these questions while commenting on the action. Chris does a great job at this usually…

Sylvain Coulombe
Sr. Heavy #77

Hey Guys

Great ideas, I’ll prep an info sheet for motormouth for the next event, and a live conversation with Chris would be brilliant ….. I’ll email him right away.Plenty of people came by the Pits and Mike dropped some club brochures to my store so I’ll bring them to the next event…. CCS also let us set up a display at the front gate which we did for the first event and if we could get some volunteers…. there were lots of questions.

I expect the attendance will increase with the end of school so everything we can do will get more exposure for the club…

Hi Sylvain / Stephane

I’m going to offer to sell you a new race suit with your name on it… lol… or you might win the one from Z Racing that is one of the Prizes..

Cheers
Frank

Sunday, June 5, 2011 Karter’s Korner – The CF race at Karter’s Korner was race #3 of the 2011 NCKC season and only the second race on the new kart for WildKart Jr. Heavy driver Skylar Bolton. The young driver is still getting accustom to the Awesome Engines powered WildKart.

Always looking for ways to improve the handling of the chassis, the crew (read Dad) made some drastic changes in order to improve front grip and make the kart easier to control for the driver. Although in the long run the changes to the chassis helped tremendously, the immediate benefits were not proven… a small whole in the gas line that was caused while making the chassis changes would limit the WildKart driver to only two laps in practice.

Despite the lack of practice and familiarity with the new setup, Skylar qualified 8th in a very competitive 12 kart Jr. Heavy field. In the Pre-final, Skylar would unfortunately be collected in a turn 2 accident resulted in loosing too much ground to his fellow competitors. Driving hard to recover from the incident, Skylar recovered to finish tenth.

The final would prove to be more productive for the young driver. Loosing a few spots on the start, Skylar showed great maturity and race craft in working his way towards the front of the front of the field. When the checkered finally flew, Skylar had worked his Awesome Engines powered WildKart to a respectable 8th place finish while turning the 6th fastest lap of the race.

Skylar is continuing to improve race after race and is quickly getting more competitive in the Jr. Heavy class. Skylar’s WildKart is supported by Frank Dinardo of Dinardo’s Skis and Wheels.

Sunday, September 27, 2010 at SLMP in Morristown NY was the scen of the final race of the NCKC season.

The WidKart team of Jason Bolton and Frank Dinardo were confident coming off 2nd and 4th place finishes at the demanding Le Circuit Quyon track. Frank was once again entered in the 6.5 Light class despite being at a 40lbs disadvantage. The team was however focused on the 6.5 Heavy Clas as some naysayers were blabbing that the 28mm S-bar chassis was inappropriate for heavy drivers…

In qualifying, the WildKarts of Frank and Jason were 4th and 5th respectively while Ron Henrie used the triple draft to qualify on pole in his Arrow kart. The prefinal had Jason work his way to 2nd and Frank maintained 4th after some great back and forth drafting battles.

In the 6.5 Light final, Frank lost the motor, his first mechanical DNF ever… Jason and Frank worked speedily to swap motors with a loaner motor just in time for the 6.5 Heavy final, however there was no Chief Steward or tech person to be found to register the serial number of the loaner motor.

In the final, the WildKart duo, with Jason leading Frank opened an early lead, only Stephane (Tonykart) was able to stay with them. In the final 5 laps Jason began to lose rear grip and Frank whose kart had perfect balance, went inside on the exit of turn 8 to make the pass. Then on the penultimate lap Stephane forced his way past Jason, with the race finishing in that order.

WildKart’s dominate the day with Frank 1st and Jason 3rd!

Thanks to:

Dinardo’s Skis and Wheels, Z Racing, Passenetti Pipes, A.M.V. Wheels and Tim Trudel… what a great season!

Special thanks to Abby Bolton, whose confidence in the speed and handling of the WildKarts was greatly appreciated…

The two dominate 2009 WildKarts used today are now for sale!

Inquire at 613-596-0007 and speak to Frank…

Morristown, NY – Sunny, blue skies greeted the members of NCKC for Race #4 at the very fast SLMP race track located in Morristown, NY. As the temperature heated up, so did the action on the track and in particular in the Jr. Heavy class which boasted the rights of being the largest field of the day with 15 drivers. Looking to better his performance from his last outing, Skylar Bolton was keen on to show the capabilities of his Awesome Engines powered WildKart. The day looked promising after the young driver posted the third fastest time in the morning practice session.

Knowing he would need a fast lap to earn a good starting position for the Pre-Final, Skylar was optimistic he could find the necessary speed and drafting partner needed to start near the front of the very competitive field. Although the session didn’t go as planned, the WildKart driver secured a solid 5th place starting position. Given the fact that the top 10 were within 1 second, Skylar was excited to be starting near the front.

If Qualifying was any indication of how competitive the Jr. Heavy racing was going to be, the Pre-Final further solidified the competitiveness of these young drivers. To put it into perspective, the top 10 karts completed the race virtually noise to tail, the fastest times of the race were posted by the 8th and 10th place karts (whose times were a mere 0.001 seconds apart), and the winner of the race posted the 9th fastest lap of the session. The action was intense to say the least. Everyone was jockeying for position, trying to earning that ultimate starting position for the final race. When it was all said and done, Skylar secured the 6th starting position for the Final.

The field was anxious to get the final started… probably a little too anxious, as an incident in the first turn would collect 5 or 6 drivers including Skylar. The field was reset and as they took the green flag for the Final, the drivers knew they could ill-afford to loose ground early to the leaders. A slipping clutch would relegate the WildKart driver to 9th after the opening turns. Nick Saunders locked on to his rear bumper and the two would hook up looking to make up ground on the lead pack. With no one willing to give an inch, contact between drivers helped Skylar and Nick make up ground on the lead pack. With 4 laps remaining the two drivers were now slotted 5th and 6th and were visibly reeling in the leaders. Unfortunately the laps would run out and Skylar would settle for 5th.

A solid run for sure. Skylar will once again look to improve on his performance as he heads to Quyon to compete in the Capital Cup.
